Indian liquor shop owners were managing daily stock purchases, transfers between locations, and excise compliance on paper registers. End-of-day stock counts took 45 minutes, discrepancies were common and unresolvable, and owners with multiple shops had no consolidated view across locations.
Our Solution
We built Barrel Books — a SaaS platform tailored to Indian liquor retail: barcode-based stock intake, automated daily stock reconciliation, inter-store transfer tracking, excise purchase register export in the format required by UP State Excise, and a mobile dashboard showing real-time stock and daily sales across all locations.
The Results
End-of-day reconciliation cut from 45 minutes to under 8 minutes. Stock discrepancy rate dropped 94% in the first month. Platform launched publicly and acquired 35 paying shops in the first 4 months at ₹599/month per location.
